Q. What is your specialty and why did you choose it?
A. I chose Pathology as a specialty prior to starting medical school because I was interested in the diagnostic aspect of medicine and having a pivotal role in patient diagnosis. Throughout medical school I was fortunate to have access to an excellent histology teaching program and many role models who encouraged my journey in pathology; I went into General Pathology as I had an interest in all subdisciplines of pathology, especially microbiology and hematopathology, and a desire to become a generalist, in addition to learning anatomical pathology.
Q. What is your favorite aspect of your position?
A. I enjoy the continuous learning component of working as a staff pathologist, including learning from each case examined and teaching residents as well as medical students who have an interest in pathology.
