Education is a top priority for all members of our department and we are proud of the variety of highly skilled educators in our Department.  Our faculty contribute to education in Undergraduate programs, the MD program, Graduate and Postgraduate training programs. Our Department hosts fully accredited Royal College residency programs in Anatomical Pathology, General Pathology, Medical Biochemistry and Medical Microbiology, and a Royal College AFC program in Transfusion Medicine.  We have recently launched Fellowships in Advanced Laboratory Coagulation/Hemostasis, Clinical Biochemistry, Clinical Genetics and Medical Microbiology. Our educational mandate is overseen by the Associate Chair of Education, and Department Education Coordinator (DEC), Dr. Daniela Leto. Dr. Leto’s main area of clinical expertise in Infectious Diseases is in the care of Immunocompromised hosts and she works closely with the Hematology Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplant and Cellular Therapy group at Juravinski Hospital. Dr. Leto has been the Head of Virology Laboratory Services at HRLMP, St. Joseph’s Hospital since 2020, and the Medical Microbiology Residency Program Director since 2015
